Birdy Bird

There are so many lovely birds that are flying around the interwebs these days (felt, linen, stamped, drawn, etc.) that I decided to make my own Birdy Bird this weekend: 

Unfortunately, I still have to add feet to this little blue birdy but that will have to wait until I have a chance to visit AC Moore and pick up some wire.  Still not sure how I'm going to incorporate it but it'll be fun figuring it out :)

I'd originally intended to kill two birds with one stone when making these (sorry, I couldn't resist).  I wanted to make these as Mother's Day gifts as well as for a Swap I'm participating in thanks to SwapBot.  I'm way ahead of schedule for the swap but i'll just have to try and speed things up to get some finished birdies for belated Mother's Day gifts.  Sorry for the delay ladies!

Mother's Day

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mom's out there!  I'm also extending this wish to all of the Sisters and Aunts out there who serve as Mother's in our place when we're not around (and even when we are there but just need a few blissful hours of sleep ... ;).

I had a wonderful day yesterday with my family and of couse forgot to take pictures.  I was also over an hour late to my sister's house but at least I made it :)

Anyhoo, since I don't have pictures to share I thought i'd post this cute video a friend of mine sent out in honor of mother's day.

Drawstring Lunch Bag

Here's my first Every Day in May project ... a Drawstring Lunch Bag!

Isn't the fabric so pretty?  My sister and I picked up this fabric at JoAnn's for the purpose of transforming it into a lunch bag.  I hadn't made up my mind on the design until this weekend.  I decided to line the inside with muslin (opted out of lining that with iron on vinyl so it would the fabric would drape better) and used some twine which is working perfectly so far. 

Any my favorite part of this bag?  My stamped monogram!

I bought some letter stamps at JoAnn (I swear these people should know my name by now) in their clearance section and have been a stamping fiend this whole weekend.  It's so much fun!  I may even make hubby a bag with a cute hidden message inside ... stay tuned!
