From the moment my sister and her husband purchased their first home, I've lovingly joked that they now live in the country and should raise their own chickens for fresh eggs daily. I've also schemed to live closer to them to enjoy 'country' life as well ...
While I still joke that they live in the country (really they just live in the suburbs, but for a city girl anything with grass is considered the country), they haven't purchased their own chicken coop nor has my scheming paid off. I do, however, trek down to their neck of the woods at least once a week to play in both their yard and house (usually getting a free meal for me and BB as well!).
My sister and husband have had their ups and downs with that yard. They have a patch of Poison Sumac that seems to afflict them whenever they look at it and grass that grows faster then anything I've ever seen - but at least the wild life enjoys their luscious grass! Take a peek ...
Their beautiful hydrangea bush:
Pretty yellow flowers that BB loves to poke at:
Purple little flowers that line their entry way:
As well as these cuties. I'm not sure what they're called but aren't they the sweetest thing?
And overflowing pots of Chicks and Hens (or is it Hens and Chicks?). Aren't they gorgeous?
And, err, oh my. Look at this ... beauty?
I wonder what the neighbors think?
