As you know, I enjoy the swaps I've joined on Sawp-Bot even though some of them have given me a migraine as I try and think up something original.
The latest swap I'm in requires me to make a Felt Crown. And not just any felt crown, this baby has to be inspired by a Children's Book! Easy Peasy, right? Well, as luck would have it my partner is the host of the swap and super duper talented. She's also embarked on her own personal challenge of making her own set of Felt Crowns - one a week for 3 months. How awesome is that? But for me - Eek! What to do? I emailed her and ask her what she'd like and she pretty much told me I had free rein and to make what i'd like, she's ok with dups.
So after my blood pressure returned to a normal state (I hate disappointing people) I decided that I'd make her a crown after one of my favorite books as a child - Tico and the Golden Wings by Leo Lionni!
I've been inspired so much by birds lately that it only naturally translated into this craft as well. And let me tell you, he's been coming out beautifully if I may say so myself!
I'm still stumped on how I'm going to finish it but creating is always so organic so i'm sure everything will flow together in the end.
The finished crown needs to be in the mail by next Thursday so I better get back to work ...
Excellent choice for your crown project. I remember Tico's story now. I remember his beautiful wings and how he gave them away.
I can't wait to see the finished project and have you re-read me the story. I'll make tea and reverse chocolate chip cookies if you are game!
