Since our move date moving steadily closer (6 more days!), every spare second has been filled with packing up the house. I really underestimated the amount of time and work that it takes to pack up a household. I mean, I knew it was going to take so long but I was naive enough to think we'd have the entire house packed up in a few days! It's not easy trying to pack up things when you have a toddler in tow so I try to use the bulk of my packing time while BB is napping. Luckily, she still lays down for 2 hours at a time (she mostly sings so herself for at least 30-45 minutes which keeps me company over the monitor) so I'm able to keep this train rollin'.
I've found though, that the hard part of packing is letting things go. There are so many memories that are in each item that passes through my hands and into it's temporary box that it's at times overwhelming. I've tried to tell myself that if it hasn't been used, is in bad shape or I just don't like it anymore that it's going to the trash bin or the give away pile but I've gotta tell you, not much has made it to either. Luckily the storage area that we got is big enough to fit all of our goodies even if I don't scale down which is good. Don't get me wrong, I fully intend to purge what we don't need but I'll leave that for when we move into our new house in the future.
For now, I'm concentrating on filtering out the things we'll need over the next 6 months and keeping those to the side while we move into our temporary residence aka my Parent's house. I'm exciting to live with them again but I'm a little worried about how attached BB will be to my parents. It's going to be so difficult getting her out of there in the end! I told Christian that when we move we're going to have to sweeten the pop and get BB a playset for the backyard and possibly a fishtank or Guinea pigs. The latter two are up for discussion.
Wish me luck in the meantime and hopefully I'll be crafting again as soon as we're settled in the next few weeks!
