Target to the rescue

Last year I made BB's Halloween costume so I naturally assumed that this year I'd do the same.  Well, with the move and life getting in the way, that never happened so I stopped by Target the day before Halloween and bough BB her Halloween costume.  Instead of buying something she'd wear only once and outgrow before next year I decided to purchase something that she'd get a little more use out of.  What do you ask?  Why, a Ballerina outfit of course!

Other then the initial scream fest that ensued right after her skirt was put her, she loved dressing up like a Ballerina.  Or did she just like having new super sparkly pink "ballerina" crocs?  Either way, the evening was a success and she even got along swimmingly with her lovely cousins who are killing me with how fast they are growing.

Slowly But Surely

This picture of BB pretty much sums up my last week or so.  We're over Phase One of our move and are slowly wrapping up Phase Two which consists of boxing up the entire contents of our house (eek!).  Some things went along as planned but most didn't.  That's ok, we go with the flow here and are taking things one day at a time.  Although I'm back at work this week, we pretty much stayed in our PJ's all last week and slowly unpacked while we adjusted to our host family (hi, Mom!) and updated routines. 

Last night I snuck away from the family and started unpacking my sewing and craft supplies.  My fingers are itching to start a new project so I better hurry up and finish with the unpacking.  Since Halloween is pretty much a bust at this point, I'll set my sights on Thanksgiving and Shop crafts.  Happy Early Halloween, friends!

toe-may-toe or toe-mah-toe

Ever since our neighbors began decorating their windows for Halloween, BB has been obsessed with Pumpkins.  "Let's go see Pumpkin, Mommy!" or "Come on, we gonna take a walk.  We go see Pumpkin!".  Most of the times it's too late so we can't walk around and go Pumpkin-Spotting, so she usually makes due with sticking her little fingers in the mail slot in our door, opening both sides and looking across the street at our neighbor's window while screaming, "Look!  Pumpkins!  It's amazing!".

I decided that I'd I make her a plushie pumpkin that she could have anytime she got a hankerin' for some pumpkin love.  But don't you know it, my hubby beat me to the punch and brought home an adorably soft pumpkin for BB and she totally loves it. 

What does that have to do with tomatoes?  Well, I was pretty intent on making something for my little girl even if it wasn't a pumpkin she could swoon over.  What other veg to make?  Why, a tomato of course!

Isn't she the cutest?  I love her smirk and eyelashes, though I think I may embroider the eyelashes on before I insert the safety eyes next time.  For her 'body' I used a scrap of soft red fleece and for her stemy / leafy part, I used some leftover green felt .  Don't you just love scrap fabric?

BB was totally enamored with Little Ms. Tomato the moment she laid eyes on her and played with her all last night.  Then, she moved on to kicking her across the room Soccer style saying, "Look, Mommy!  Kicky ball!".  Oh well, at least she's playing with it, right?
